A Tour of the 1636 Balch House

[Note: Please click on the blue underlined links in this story to view the rooms.  Then click on the back button on your browser to return to this page]

Knock on the front door, and Nancy Hood your host and tour guide will greet you.  Nancy, a descendant of John Balch has lived at Balch House since 1970.  She will invite you into the "Great Hall" and ask you to sign our guest book.

This room is thought to be the first one constructed by John Balch, and the other rooms where added over the next few decades.

After leaving the "Great Hall" you will travel next into the other first floor room at the front the house.  In this room you will see a loom, a spinning wheel and another fireplace, complete with a side oven for baking bread.   Note also the flintlock over the fireplace and the leather fire bucket next to the fireplace.

We then move upstairs to the second floor and enter the right front bedroom.

We then travel to the left front bedroom and conclude the tour.

Thank you for visiting our old family homestead.
